Tear Down Complete

The 351 is now in multiple oily pieces in various boxes, bags, and big chunks of metal.  A little final gasket scraping and it's off to the machine shop to see what is what.

Had some milkshake looking stuff in cylinder 7 & 8.  This engine sat for 6 years after being pulled from a wrecked Cougar... that is all I was told when I bought it.

Bits and pieces of stuff in the oil pickup screen

Learned alot more about what is what inside the engine and how it all fits and works together.  Looking forward to re-assembly.  Near as I can tell, this engine has never been rebuilt, bored over...., all of the castings are withing 3 weeks of each other from 1969.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

More toys -er work

I actually finished the clock over the weekend in time to work on this

This is the new (soon to be) powerhouse for the Bronco.  I don't know if my build order is backassward or not, but this seemed a comfortable place to begin.

Say hello to my 1969 351W.  Hey - at least the casting is the same year as the Bronco.  I will be tearing this down to see if I got a gem or a lemon - never know until it apart.  The guy that sold me the Bronco had this for the last 6 years and did nothing to it.  It came out of wrecked Cougar, or so he said.  I guess there is a chance it was never rebuilt.

Check this out - inside one of the valve covers was the foil from the top of an oil can - that couldn't have been good.

Finish what you start

I call myself a 98 percenter meaning that most of my projects are mostly done.  I decided that I wouldn't dive into the Bronco until I finished my latest woodworking project that I started in December.  Here are all of the parts that I cut/sanded/stained...

You guessed it - a clock.  Plans courtesy of Clayton Boyer.  You can purchase your own plans and torture yourself too right here.  This particular clock is called Swoopy and although I had it running in my shop, when I brought it in, it refuses to please me.  More tinkering, maybe 99% on this project.

Here is the assembled view.
